Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a transcontinental long-term policy and investment program of $1 Trillion, which aims at infrastructure development and acceleration of the economic integration of countries along the route of the historic Silk Road. The Initiative was unveiled in 2013 by China`s President Xi Jinping and until 2016, was known as OBOR – One Belt One Road.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the Pakistan component of BRI. Pakistan and China signed the agreements for CPEC in April 2015. It comprises of projects of infrastructure, power, industries, and Gwadar Port. Investments or loans of CPEC are valued at $50 billion.
Belt Focus is a special initiative of Balochistan Voices to highlight, report, and analyze the developments relating to BRI in Asia in general and CPEC in particular. Belt Focus will publish original content along with the curation of important stories relating to BRI from credible media outlets.
