Quetta: During Annual Meeting of Plan Coordination Committee (APCC), it was alleged that delay in establishment of two new universities is due to weakness of Balochistan Government.
Meeting of APCC was held on 26th May with Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal in Chair.
APCC Recommends Federal PSDP projects which are later approved by other higher forums.
In the meeting Rs. 1,675 Billion worth projects were approved for both Federal and Provincial Public Sector Development Programs (PSDP).
During the same meeting Chief Minister (CM) of Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri staged a walk out in protest and he was later persuaded by Ahsan Iqbal to end his protest and rejoin the meeting.
APCC allocated Rs. 21 billion for construction of University Campuses in Six Districts of the country.
Balochistan Voices has learnt through its sources in Federal Government that Ahsan Iqbal expressed displeasure on delay in establishment of Universities in Gwadar and Wadh in Balochistan.
According to the sources Ahsan Iqbal reprimanded chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) for delay in establishment of these two aforementioned Universities.

Chairman HEC blamed provincial government for not submitting PC-1 of the University on time which has caused the delay, as he told the meeting.
A Source in education department of Balochistan, who wished not to be named, told Balochistan Voices that Governor Secretariat deals with the task of submitting PC-1 of Universities and officers in that secretariat are Responsible for the delay.
It must be noticed that decision to establish a University in Gwadar was made in Central Working Development Party (CDWP) in February this year with Ahsan Iqbal in chair.
Ahsan Iqbal had announced that class would be launched in Gwadar University by September 2016 but that does not seem possible now due to the delay in Establishment process.
“Ahsan Iqbal is really keen to establish Universities in Balochistan but the weakness is on the end of provincial government,” claimed the source in federal government.
