Gwadar: A sit-in protest was held by Jamat-e-Islami (JI) outside office of Deputy Commissioner (DC) against long hours of load shedding by Quetta Electricity Supply Company (QESCO), on Monday.
People of Gwadar turned in large numbers to participate in the sit-in
QESCO had increased load shedding in Gwadar in last few days which caused a lot of trouble for the people in hot weather.

Protestors chanted slogans against QESCO and also tried to enter DC office. This resulted in a minor violent clash with Police which was posted outside DC office.
DC Gwadar, Tufail Baloch, ensured the protestors that the issue would be resolved soon by discussing it with QESCO officials. He also announced to release Rs. 15 million for improvement of transmission lines in Gwadar.

Experts believe that Rs. 15 million can only reduce the tripping on existing feeders. In order to increase the supply QESCO needs to install a new feeder of 11 KVA. They added that dealing with the current situation is beyond capacity of QESCO.
JI leaders refused to end the sit-in protest and vowed that it would continue until the load shedding problem is solved in Gwadar.
