BNPMC to Establish Stabilization Centers for Malnourished Children

Quetta: Balochistan Nutrition Program for Mothers and Children (BNPMC) will establish stabilization centers in seven program focused district at district headquarter hospitals. This was told by Dr. Fahim Khan program manager here on Monday while addressing the opening session of five days training on facility based management of acute malnutrition arranged in collaboration with the World Health organization and nutrition wing Islamabad, being held at the Boys Scouts headquarter.
Dr. Khan said that all arrangements have been made, necessary equipment, medicine and special food supplements have been procured for those children who are severely malnourished and having various health related complication. These stabilization centers will be functionalized at district headquarter hospital Kohlu, Sibi, Zhob, Killa Saifullah, Noshki, Kharan, Panjgur once the health care providers complete this training.
The severely malnourished children suffering with various diseases will be enrolled for treatment at stabilization centers and will be provided medicines and special food supplements. He added.
While addressing the participants of the workshop the representatives of nutrition wing Dr. Khawaja Masood and Mr. Taj Wali Khan emphasized “that this training is very important for saving lives of under five children, therefore all the participants must learn keenly to enhance their capacity to treat such complicated cases” They further ensured that the nutrition wing under ministry of health will continue providing technical and financial support to Balochistan nutrition program in-order to minimize the death rate of under five children in the province.
