Punjab University Incident: Use it to Your Advantage

What had happened in Punjab University (PU) few days back is shameful and what is happening now is more shameful.
After the few hour of incident, social media was flooded with the write ups, blogs and hashtags of one sided stories from both sides by people who were waiting to criticize according to their comfort zone and claim themselves that they do not support any group but actually they were inseminating their own agendas and politicizing it for personal and political gains.

I haven’t seen a single article condemning both groups. The ones who were inclined towards one side were posting in favor of the ambush (which is shameful without any doubt) and the ones who had their hearts beating with the sufferers were posting to show their blamelessness. And soon after the incident, religious and nationalist political parties jumped in and made it an ethnic issue. And the result was that people who were willing to condemn the incident before were dragged into the confusion of ethnicity and soon chauvinism win over their rational thinking and they tied up with a side close to their race.

Well! What were they fighting for? Were the originating factors of the dispute related to some educational affairs? Certainly Not.
Bout was for the upholding of supremacy by one of the group inside the institution. And the members the group thinks, violence is the solution of anything. Those unnerving clips of PU can tremble anyone. The more you hit people, the more you scare people, the more they will come as a unit to stand against you. And it will just aggravate the issue and will make an educational institution a battle ground.
Why can’t we show the ugly side of both the groups instead of making one villain and one hero according to our own benefits and create confusion and generate a layer hate?
The people can’t and won’t tolerate any kind of violence. Such organized acts of violence cannot and should not be defended in any way. And those who use such incidents for their own gains must not be tolerated as well.
And please don’t try to move in Islam into the matter and misinterpret it. Encouraging negative elements for splitting people and promoting violence in the name of Islam is not Islam and you don’t own Islam. There are so many issues in our institutions, but you so called wise and scholarly people always fight on such topics to advocate your total domination.
We students all these institutions want employment, creativity, critical thinking and practical education, scientific learning to tackle massive unemployment and poverty. Not your day to day conflicts.
