Trend of Shisah Smoking on Rise

Quetta: Selling, buying, and smoking of Shisha continue unchecked which indulges young generation and is leading them to destruction. A large number of Shisha Points in Different areas of Liaqat Bazar, Alamdar Road, Jinnah Town, Shahbaz Town, Airport Road, Alamo Chowk, Prince Road and other adjourning areas are busy in playing with the lives of youngsters. A large number of young people go to Shisha Points for smoking. The poison is destroying our future generation completely. The Shisha Point owners are playing with the lives of youngsters for the sake of earning a profit.
It is a highly addictive stimulant that can have long-lasting impacts on human health. It is growing popularity among our young generation especially teenagers are involved in it.  The tobacco is flavored and passed through water first during Shisha Smoking which is a wrong concept. Carcinogens and nicotine are still present in smoke; also contain coal flames which cause cancer and also carcinogenic diseases.
One breath/braise of Shisha Smoke is equal to 18 cigarettes. There are 5000 harmful chemicals, 100 of which cause carcinogenic and lungs diseases reveals a World Health Organization Report. According to a study, 50% College and University boys and girls are now hooked to Shisha. One hundred thousand people die due to smoking which is higher than the suicide and other attack rates.
The federal government had enacted a law to stop Smoking in 2002. Following this, The Provincial Assembly passed The Balochistan Prohibition of Shisha Smoking Bill in 2016.
However, district administrations have not paid heed to provincial assembly’s resolution and seem reluctant to close down Shisha Points operating across the city and nearby areas. Ironically, phony crackdown attempts were made as an eyewash to show the government that they were in action. After a brief respite, the Shisha Points reopened in full zeal and started the destruction of young generation with rapid continuation again.
