Work on Public Welfare Projects of CPEC is In Progress: Chinese Consul General

Quetta: The first phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is complete and work on public welfare projects in Gwadar is in progress, said Li Bijian Chinese Consul General for Sindh and Balochistan, during his visit to Quetta Press Club on Wednesday.
Chairman China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pakistan (COPHC) Zhang Baozhong and other Chinese officials were also part of the Chinese delegation led by Li Bijian.
President Quetta Press Club Abdul Khaliq Rind, General Secretary Banaras Khan, President PFUJ Shehzada Zulfiqar, Senior Journalist Saleem Shahid and Zafar Baloch welcomed the delegation.
Li Bijian added that journalists are playing an important role in society to raise awareness among people in the community. Quetta Press Club and journalists of Balochistan are playing their positive part to connect people with each other.
He added that China was planning to start an exchange program between Quetta Press Club and The Chinese Journalists Association, which was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Once the vaccination process is started we will resume the program as soon as possible,” He added.
Consul General added that they want to arrange a couple of training workshops for members of Quetta Press Club in China to get connected. We are looking forward to members of the Quetta Press Club come together to strengthen our relationships through TV programs. We want to connect with local people and communities through the business community, tribesmen, and students through fruitful discussions to tackle challenges.
Zhang Baozhong while answering questions said that construction work on Vocational Training Center in Gwadar continues. “East Bay Expressway Gwadar and other projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year,” He said. He added that there are some hurdles in Gwadar International Airport construction.
Zhang Baozhong added that Gwadar port is operational and container and general cargo services is continuing. “We have not fired any employee during the hardship of COVID-19. China will ensure the provision of clean drinking water, electricity, telecommunication, and other basic needs with the collaboration of the Federal and Provincial governments of Balochistan,” He claimed.
