Engage Universities and Youth for Peace: Prof. Qibla Ayaz,

Quetta: “To bring peace and tranquility in society, it’s important to engage universities and target youth as they are the future of Pakistan”. These words were shared by Prof. Qibla Ayaz, Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology while addressing the Vice-Chancellor Conference in Quetta, organized by Shaoor Foundation under its PACT for Tolerance project.
The event was a collaborative effort between Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness (SFEA), National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), Paigham-e-Pakistan, and Quaid e Azam University Islamabad.
With the theme of “Academic Discourse on Countering Extremism” the event was aimed to discuss a draft set of recommendations to bring peace and tolerance to university campuses.
Talking at the occasion, Chairmen of All Pakistan Vice-Chancellors Committee & Vice-Chancellor, Quaid e Azam University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah lauded the efforts of Shaoor Foundation and called it “the first step” towards a better future. DG Islamic Research institute (Paigham e Pakistan), Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq said that events like these are the need of the hour, and focusing on universities is the perfect strategy to curb the menace of extremism and intolerance.
The event was attended by Vice-Chancellors from public and private sector universities in Balochistan. The stakeholders appreciated the Shaoor Foundation’s efforts in initiating such a unique project and engaging Balochistan in particular.
