Baloch People not Taken on Board on CPEC: Akhtar Mengal

Quetta: Former Chief Minister of Balochistan and President of Balochistan National Party (BNP) Sardar Akhtar Mengal has said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is being built against the wishes of people of Balochistan and they have not been taken on board. He invited all the leading anchorpersons of the country to visit Balochistan and see for themselves what development is really taking place in Balochistan in the name of CPEC.
Mengal said this while addressing an obituary reference on second death anniversary of Mir Inayat Ullah Langove, on Monday. Inayat Ullah Langove was a founding member of BNP and a renowned name in politics of Quetta.

“Gwadar to Surab Road which has been inaugurated multiple times under CPEC has actually been financed by Asian Development bank and World Bank and not under CPEC,” He claimed.
He continued “CPEC agreements have not even been showed to the officials of provincial government of Balochistan let alone the common people.”
Mengal continued that despite a 12 year unannounced ban on political activities of BNP in Balochistan, party still manages to pull crowds of hundreds of thousands in political gatherings which are never highlighted by media.

Addressing the issue of Afghan Refugees, former Chief Minister claimed that first Afghan refugees were first used by religious parties and now nationalist parties are using them for their vested interests.

Former Senator Sanaullah Baloch said, while addressing the obituary reference, that genuine leaders of the people of Balochistan have been sidelined through a systematic approach which has resulted in vacuum of leadership. “This vacuum of leadership has created problems of bad governance, corruption and led the province to anarchy.”

“In 1950s Balochistan used to produce 92% of the gas of the country and now government claims that province only produces 17%, which is obvious manipulation of figures,” he alleged.
Abdul Wali Kakar, Senior Vice President of BNP, criticized electronic media in Pakistan for ignoring the political activities of BNP and problems of Balochistan. “If media continued ignoring issues of Balochistan then we will be left with no choice but to boycott it,” He threatened.
He added that the so-called Baloch and Pashtun nationalist parties, who are in government, have compromised on every principle to get power.

Agha Hassan Baloch, central Spokesperson of BNP, said that there are approximately 1.5 million Baloch IDPs who should be resettled before conducting census in Balochistan.
“In a recent meeting with Asif Bajwa, Census commissioner, we were informed that there is no mechanism to include IDPs in the census which is not acceptable to us,” he said.
Akhtar Hussain Langove President of Quetta Chapter of BNP and son of Mir Inayat Langove, Syed Nasir Ali Shah, Sajjad Tareen and BSO Chairman Nazeer Baloch also addressed the reference. All participants paid rich tributes to late Mir Inayat Langove for his contributions for Baloch politics in Quetta.
